http://froknowsphoto.com/ I started to make edits on these photos than figured i should record it so you can get a feel for my mind set when tweaking the files. There is a killer tip at 5 min on exposure.
I had way too many requests that I couldn't ignore last week when I showed you my photos from Red Rock Canyon outside of Las Vegas Nevada. So for all you that requested it...here you go!
First, as always, we need to start with a good histogram and well exposed image. The first photo has very little contrast but a very good starting point. There is plenty of data to work with, especially from a RAW file, it just needed to be moved around.
The second I thought was a complete goner. Unfortunately it was overexposed, skies almost gone with cloud cover and a histogram pushed way to far to the right. Check out the video to see how I created both of these images...enjoy!

This video explains the Logitech G13 Gaming Keyboard for use with Adobe Photoshop CS5, Lightroom 3 and Bridge. Custom mapping keys for use in combination with Paddy (www.paddy-for-lightroom.com) to control any sliders in Adobe Lightroom 3. Use the G13 keyboard with actions in Adobe Photoshop or in Lightroom to cut editing time down by keeping your eyes on the photo and not on the sliders that need to be adjusted.
With use of the Logitech G13, Paddy for Lightroom, and Lightroom 3 you can edit a raw photo in Lightroom in around 3-5 secs.
Here we are again editing another user submitted RAW file, remember that neither Greg nor I took this picture and it was submitted by a reader of the web site.
This weeks image was captured with the Nikon D3000 and Nikon 55-300 VR Lens. It is a great capture of a blade of grass with water on it. I was really surprised to see how sharp the focus was on the blade of grass and water.
When I was editing it I took the approach of making it pop as much as possible but making it seem a little darker. If you remember the movie Honey I Shrunk the Kids a lot of the movie is filmed in the grass and it just seemed darker when you were on that level. That is why my image looks darker, i figured if your on the level of the grass its probably in the shade and should take on a darker quality.
Greg decided to try to very different edits this week, one a little warmer and the other a little colder. This excursive week in and week out shows you different ways that images can be edited, Always remember that photography does not stop when you press the shutter button, it continues into your post processing.

I have this shot out here that was taken at a farm in a rural area in Canton. Awesomely enough, the farmer is actually smoking while farming. You know, puff and pluck, puff and pluck. Anyway, when looking at this image, it reminds me of a 1960-1970 era photograph that I might have seen in Time magazine or National Geographic. So, we are going to create that look and effect in Lightroom.
Watch Tyler Stableford, voted by Men's Journal as one of the seven World's Greatest Adventure Photographers, take on the challenge of shooting an ice climbing expedition and perfecting his images with the help of Lightroom 3 beta 2.
